Jawahar Lal Nehru College, Dehri-On-Sone (Rohtas) Bihar is a Constituent Unit of Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara (Bihar). It is a Multi-Faculty Co-educational postgraduate pioneer Institution of the sub-divisional town of Dehri-Dalmianagar. The College is situated nearly 3 Km. west from the Dehri township towards ‘Sasaram’ (Headquarters of ‘Rohtas’ District) on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road NH02. It has got a well developed infrastructure spread over in 7.5 Acres of landed area with 19926.00 sq.m built up space.
On 17th Feb. 1962 it’s foundation stone was laid down by our revered first Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. To make the moment and the day memorable, local people & governing body of college decided to name this college after the name of Our First Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. It has got its first affiliation for teaching upto Intermediate level in year 1966. Affiliation for teaching upto graduation level has been granted by Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya in year 1970 and the College was converted as Constituent Unit of Magadh University, Bodh-Gaya in year 1980. Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara was carved out of Magadh University in 1992, and the college became Constituent Unit of Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara.
· To provide and enrich the educational programme/courses various disciplines in response to changing regional, national and global scenario, with emphasis on employment/skill oriented programmes informal and non-formal mode.
· To undertake community outreach activities ensuring active participation by students, faculty, alumni and other stakeholders.
· To improve and upgrade teaching - learning process in view of emerging ICT trends.
